Public Health Foundation of Georgia

Established in 1999, the Public Health Foundation counts 15-year history of serving the public, particularly those who are vulnerable and deprived of fundamental rights. PHF has proven in Georgia and internationally its value both in knowledge and experience. It started as an individual service provider for abused children but developed over time a much broader approach including multi-sectoral training of staff and at national level to improve legislation concerning children's rights. From the day of its establishment the organization runs programs in two major directions: Program Protecting Children from Abuse and Neglect: The Public Health Foundation of Georgia believes that children in Georgia should live in an environment protected from abuse in order to pursue dignified life and become full member of the society. PHF strives to lobby and mainstream child protection issues in country’s policy and create safe, abuse free environment for children. Public Health Program The Public Health Foundation of Georgia believes that a healthy start in life pre¬vents behavioral problems and mental disorders in children and adults. To this end, PHF develops projects in the primary health care institutions and educational settings. This program is self-sustained. Target groups and beneficiaries: Beneficiaries of the program Protecting Children from Abuse and Neglect are: children victims and witnesses of abuse and neglect or children at risk and their family members, who receive direct support; socially vulnerable groups are given special priority. Target groups consist of professionals with the greatest influence on children, as well as relevant officials and decision makers. PHF is actively involved in promoting children’s rights in child welfare, mental, social health and justice sec¬tors.
