Philly Student Doctors

Philly Student Doctors 501(c)(3) is a non-profit organization founded in 2022 by Temple dental and Drexel medical students. Our organization was created to foster a sense of togetherness and strengthen community outreach, scholarship, and excellence in Philadelphia amongst all Black health professional students. Coming from different healthcare specialties, we wanted to understand each other's perspectives to provide more holistic patient care. We have successfully brought students from various healthcare fields together across different institutions through volunteering activities and social events. As a unified group, we have ignited a collaborative environment to encourage unity between students and build a lasting legacy to improve the health of marginalized communities within the greater Philadelphia area. Since our inception, a great deal has been accomplished; some of these milestones include growing our reach to over 1000 students when combining all of our membership platforms, adopting a new global health initiative in which we were able to donate school supplies and food to an orphanage on the grounds in Nigeria, and holding the first-ever inaugural black excellence health professionals gala geared towards both cultivating a network of students from various health professions to encourage community and as a fundraiser in which we provided a $1500 scholarship to inspire pre-health students from our metropolitan area to formulate ways to improve the health outcomes of underserved communities.
