Photonics Chapter IIT Bombay

A forum for researchers and students interested in Optics and Photonics to learn, discuss, network, educate and spread the potential of Photonics. The Photonics group at IIT Bombay comprises of enthusiastic researchers working on diverse fields including active nano-photonics, plasmonics, valleytronics, ultrafast optics, quantum optics, optical materials, and many others. Our student chapter is affiliated to two non-profit professional organisations namely, the Optical Society (OSA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Photonics Society, both serving an international community of scientists, engineers, technicians, educators, and business leaders dedicated to advancing the understanding and applications of light. These societies help develop technical knowledge, leadership experience and lasting relationships by providing student travel grants to international technical and leadership conferences, funding a traveling lecturer and, enabling access to various networking materials and resources. Ever since its inception in September 2019, the group has been actively hosting Guest lectures 'Ask me anything' sessions where Professors and young scientists interact with the community to share their research experiences Outreach activities to educate the high school students and public on Optics and Photonics LITE (Light for Innovation, Thought and Education) Talks and the LITE Workshops which bring together bright minds to learn, interact and up-skill LITE Tutorials featuring student speakers presenting their research
