Professor H.S. Srivastava Foundation has recently established its R&D centre in Lucknow which is dedicated to research, innovations and technology transfer for sustainable rural development and ecological restoration. The Foundation is planning to develop its resource centre for knowledge generation and its dissemination in its identified fields. It is to organize training programs for entrepreneurship of the rural youth and for success of ecological/natural agriculture. The centre is collaborating with other likeminded organisations through MoU,s and collaborative projects. For example, it is providing beneficial bio-inoculants based on selected soil microbes to the farmers associated with a rural network of Icareindia, Lucknow We are planning to establish a bio-lab for production of microbial inoculants suitable to application in different agro-climatic conditions for improving soil fertility and agricultural productivity with low external input. The Foundation is also planning to initiate projects on enhancing below ground and above ground bio-diversity based on microbial inputs and regeneration of endemic beneficial soil microbes as well as enhancing crop diversity and population of beneficial insects and flies. The new climate resilient and culturally adoptable food systems are required to fulfil the emerging nutritional, provisional and commercial needs of the people and the market. Increased below and above ground biodiversity in marginal and low fertility lands can provide multiple ecosystem services, economic benefits and can be a novel sink for carbon sequestration.
