The astronomical observatory of the Physics Department of BITS Pilani-Goa Campus. On the 2nd of May 2023, the Campus Observatory was inaugurated by Prof. Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani University accompanied by Prof. Suman Kundu, Director, Goa Campus and past Dean, Administration Prof. D. M. Kulkarni. It is a student-run observatory under the guidance of professor Dr. Tarun Kumar Jha from the Physics Department.
Instruments include an automated German equatorial mount and an 11-inch Makutsov-cassegrain telescope as our primary observing instrument. Apart from that, the observatory is used by the astronomy club SEDS Celestia for astronomical observations.
Currently the students are carrying out the Solar Observing program and Variable Star Visual Observing program of the AAVSO and look to expand further.
