PICTO is the umbrella organization of the electronics, information technology, broadcast and telecommunications industries in the Philippines. It was originally registered in 1969 as PETEF, and was subsequently reincorporated in 2018 as PICTO, to keep up with strides in modern technology. We are recognized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), as the representative federation of the Philippine Telecommunications Industry. As the acknowledged voice of the Philippine ICT, PICTO works closely with the government in matters affecting the industry and helps to formulate and define various policies and guidelines that aim to accelerate the development of the country’s telecommunications, information technology, electronics and broadcast sectors. PICTO adheres to the 21st century economic dictum that private enterprise is the key engine of economic growth.
PICTO advocates the laying down of definitive foundations to support and bolster the swift development of the Philippine Information Infrastructure, the country's main component linking to the Global Information Infrastructure (GII) which digitally links the world, providing the infrastructure for new web services and activities for use by people from all walks of life, based on the strategic use of all types of information. The infrastructure shall provide the means to enable all Filipinos to have access to the Internet and basic communications services.
