Public Interest Litigation Institute (PILI) is dedicated to advancing justice, the rule of law, and the fundamental rights and interests of individuals and communities through strategic litigation and advocacy. Our mission is to advance the public interest in public and private law litigation, in both common law and civil law matters, in a manner consistent with the defining values and principles of Canada’s pluralistic liberal democratic society - in both English and French. PILI's work is deeply informed by our longstanding, varied, and extensive legal experience in class action litigation, particularly against governments and powerful corporations. Our lawyers also bring invaluable experience from their work in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, enabling us to effectively navigate complex legal landscapes and influence meaningful policy change.
