Pink Jinn began as a blog, sharing stories and insights from the MENA region and providing an alternative to the - often negative and orientalist - media coverage of the region. Over the years it has grown into an online community of thousands of people with a shared worldview based on empathy and cross-cultural understanding.
In 2019 we launched The Souq, an online marketplace for handicrafts and cultural heritage products from the region, from Omani frankincense to Palestinian ceramics and Moroccan Argan Oil. We source directly from artisans, small businesses and social enterprises and give 1/3 of the profits back to charities in the region working with refugees and vulnerable women.
We have also built a platform for Arabic learners, through which we share resources and learning tips for those self-studying the language.
