Piping Engineering Cell, IIT Bombay

IIT Bombay's Certificate Course on Piping Engineering was launched in the year 1992. The course into it's 74th edition over the last 25years has trained around 10000 engineers. The course was a professional development programme developed as a joint initiative of industry and academia. This course instantly filled an existing gap between the requirement of industry's design and engineering sector and what conventional curriculum of established engineering disciplines of chemical engineering, mechanical engineering etc. offered. The course received huge response from professionals which literally thronged to the course year after year and edition after edition. It continues its popularity even as it is poised to reach its 75th edition. The course increased interaction between industry and CAD Centre of IIT Bombay and offered solutions to many problems of the design and engineering sector. Piping Engineering Cell was formed to focus more on this major component of process plant engineering. This cell in the Chemical Engineering Department is now known as a one stop solution provider for all piping engineering related problems faced by industry. The Piping Engineering Cell presently offers two online courses, one on Piping Engineering and the other on Process Equipment Design.
