About Piscopia Initiative
We aim to encourage more women and underrepresented genders to pursue a PhD in mathematics, and we create a support network for students and researchers in the mathematical sciences and related disciplines. We want to improve gender diversity in higher education, and celebrate and provide a platform for gender minorities in maths. Founded in 2019 by three PhD students at the University of Edinburgh, The Piscopia Initiative now has nearly 400 members and local committees at over 20 universities in the UK. We host a monthly seminar series PiWORKS to showcase the works and experiences of women and gender minority researchers in maths, and run our annual conference PiFORUM every September. PhD mentoring, PhD information sessions, coffee afternoons, and social events are among some of the activities that local committees also host at their institutions. To sign-up to our mailing list and hear about PhD opportunities, conferences, summer schools, workshops, Piscopia events and more, follow this link https://forms.gle/rMjKdVwJ9NuZh9CMA.
