About Pivot Support Service
Pivot is a not-for-profit incorporated organisation based in Albany, Western Australia. Pivot commenced operations as the Regional Counselling and Mentoring Service in July 2005. We provide services and programs throughout the Great Southern ranging from the reintegration into the community of prisoners, assisting disadvantaged people with shelter, counselling, food and other practical items and provide a range of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) services to persons with a disability. Pivot is contracted by the Department of Justice (DoJ) to deliver programs into the two prisons in the Great Southern (Albany Regional Prison and Pardelup Prison Farm), including workshops to assist prisoner’s transition back to society and reduce recidivism. It then continues to work with the clients for 12 months post-release on a range of reintegration issues from accommodation to mental health. We also run the visitors centre at Albany Regional Prison To develop an employment option for disadvantaged persons we have established the New Leaf business. This is a registered business which offers professional gardening, cleaning and general services. Currently we self-fund a Community Hub project which allows any members of the community in disadvantage to meet with a Pivot support worker who can assess their needs and refer them to the appropriate service agency in the region. We also provide practical support such as food, swags and paying minor bills. We have now registered to provide a range of services under the National Disability insurance Scheme (NDIS), including Occupational Therapy and Support Coordination. Pivot’s organisational structure consists of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who answers to a Committee of Management. There are two managers (Reintegration and NDIS), the CEO is responsible for corporate administration. We have approximately 20 staff in the office and around 30 staff overall. Most staff are permanent part time.
