Placemaking Emirates

Placemaking Emirates (PlacemakingX UAE Chapter, non-profit) is dedicated to fostering a collaborative platform that engages people, professionals, and policymakers in shaping the built environment. We aim to enhance the livability and identity of our cities, towns, and neighbourhoods through participatory placemaking practices. By championing local initiatives, knowledge sharing, and capacity building, we strive to advocate for creating a sense of belonging and civic pride in our shared public spaces by embracing the unique cultural, social, and environmental contexts that define the UAE as a nation. We acknowledge the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the UAE, and we believe in creating places that reflect and celebrate this uniqueness. We envision environments that respect and showcase traditional values, art, architecture, and customs, while embracing innovation and creativity. Placemaking Emirates will embody a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, honoring our past as we build a brighter future. With visions including the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 guiding our path, we commit to being at the forefront of innovative placemaking practices. We believe in the potential of emerging technologies, smart city solutions, and forward-thinking design approaches to create intelligent, interconnected, and sustainable places.
