Our Mission: Our mission is to improve mental wellness through woodworking while encouraging an inclusive community. How We Help: Woodworking is a niche hobby. Oftentimes, individuals interested in the craft do not have friends or relatives who enjoy the same craft; therefore, they seek online communities to build relationships. These online communities are not therapeutic or inclusive, adding on a mental health diagnosis means the individual may not be receiving the support or understanding they need to thrive. Additionally, woodworking courses are not always affordable. Here at Plane Wellness, we solve those problems by providing a therapeutic, in-nature, environment that is supportive and inclusive through grant funded woodworking courses. Here individuals can learn the craft, enjoy the craft, and build relationships with like-minded individuals. Who We Help: We provide grant funded courses to individuals who are 18 and older who have a mental health diagnosis and an interest in woodworking. The mental health diagnosis, include but are not limited to, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, OCD, etc. Future Goals: The next big step for Plane Wellness is to acquire land and build a facility where we can host grant funded individuals for woodworking retreats. We want to give them a chance to take a break from their normal day to day and spend time with others, woodworking, learning, and improving their mental wellness in a therapeutic, in-nature, environment. This will not only help them discover and enjoy woodworking but it will also help them “break the ice” and meet friends with similar interests.
