PlanetGoals aims to support professionals to integrate sustainable practices that promote the transition to climate neutrality into football-related entities and also to make them more inclusive and to encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyles and participation in sport and physical activity for all by welcoming and involving individuals from all walks of life including those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Its specific objectives are as follows: Enhancing and upskilling participants’ competencies in order to adopt a sustainable way of operation and governance for their football-related organizations and increasing awareness among their fans/supporters/funders; Equipping the target groups with innovative learning tools enabling distance learning regarding environmental and social sustainability; Mapping, promoting and disseminating best practices regarding environmental and social sustainability for football-related entities’ governance and operations; Raising awareness regarding the need for taking climate action and tackling other environmental issues; Raising awareness regarding the need for promoting social inclusion and participation for all in football activities; Raising awareness regarding the need for adopting healthy lifestyles through football activities; Promoting a sustainable way of operations and governance of football-related entities; Assessing sustainability levels of football-related entities’ operations and governance; Promoting of a “green” behavior, social inclusion and healthy lifestyles at community level while also fostering action taken at individual level; Engaging local football-related entities in taking climate action, promoting social inclusion and healthy lifestyles.
