PlanetStewards Project

The PLANETSTEWARDS Project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC), is an international research programme addressing the sustainability challenges of our changing Earth-Space systems. The project pushes sustainability and governance questions beyond a single planetary scale, examining how human-driven space activities shape sustainability on Earth and in space in terms of environmental integrity and equity for all life forms. The project analyzes varied planetary stewardship approaches—government, market, science, and community-led initiatives—to understand their implications. Using qualitative and comparative methods, it proposes recommendations for policies and governance for future Earth-Space sustainability.
