About Planting Our Future
Planting our Future is committed to planting 250,000 trees by 2030 through local engagement with schools, residents, businesses, and community groups, including the Solihull Tree Wardens. The "Planting Our Future" campaign encourages residents to participate in tree planting, get involved in green infrastructure projects, and supports private landowners who wish to plant trees. Since the campaign's inception in 2020, we have planted 100,000 trees across the borough and are on track to plant another 25,000 in 2024/25. Solihull Council's ambitious goal is to increase woodland cover across the Borough, creating a revitalised network of open spaces in both rural and urban areas that will have a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives, the natural environment, and the fight against climate change. This is not something we can achieve alone; community involvement, private landowners, and other public bodies are essential partners in this effort. "Planting Our Future" seeks to inspire everyone in the Borough to get involved and make a significant difference in how trees, woodlands, and green infrastructure can benefit both people and the environment. Through education and engagement, we aim to raise awareness of the benefits of trees and encourage stakeholders to actively participate in all aspects of the campaign.
