PT PLN Gas & Geothermal is a subsidiary of PT PLN (Persero) which was established on January 28, 2009 to carry out the development of geothermal aspect in Indonesia with a function as a security of supply and cost efficiency. at the beginning of its establishment, the company used the name of PT PLN Geothermal with a focus on geothermal development business.
On July 10, 2017, Shareholders resolved to add midstream gas business activities to the company’s business. The company’s original name was “PT PLN Geothermal”, changed to “PT PLN Gas & Geothermal” based on Notarial Deed of Muhammad Hanafi SH Number 73 dated July 31, 2017 and Decree of Minister of Law & Human Rights Number AHU-0017016.AH.01.022.Tahun 2017. The addition of business activities and change in the company’s name aimed to support the realization of PT PLN (persero)’s mission, namely SOLID (Securing Business Sustainability, Optimizing Cost Efficiency, Leading Industry Capabilities, Increasing Profit Margin, Developing New Edge).
To support the realization of PLN Group’s portfolio strategy, SOLID, the company emphasizes business activities inplanning, Development, Construction, Operation & Maintenance of Logistics Infrastructure and Gas Transportation and Development and Operation of Geothermal power plant to utilize gas and geothermal resources into electrical energy.
Since its establishment, the company managed to develop several geothermal-related projects and programs in Indonesia to support the Government in increasing the availability of electricity for all Indonesian people, such as WKP Tulehu, PLTP Lahendong, and PLTP Mataloko. In addition, the company has eight Geothermal Work area projects that have been developed. In 2017, the company obtained eight gas infrastructure projects as part of the assignment provided by PT PLN (Persero).
