PLOES is a Non-Governmental Organisation, founded by professionals in the field of mental health and special education in 1998.
"Ploes" is active in the field of mental health and social inclusion of citizens belonging to vulnerable social groups (mainly people with psychosocial difficulties, intellectual disability and autism), with the aim of developing programs and structures that respond to their multilevel needs.
The organization’s philosophy stems from the basic principles of social psychiatry and is linked to the understanding that mental disorder is a complex and multifactorial phenomenon. Therefore, preventing and dealing with its effects from a very young age in a systematic way, effective method and appropriate means can limit the future consequences it brings. This approach runs through all of the actions of the company.
The main goal of the organization is the development of programs and structures that deal with the special, multi-level needs of specific individuals with scientific proficiency and methodological efficiency. On this basis, it is active in the creation of services in the context of a network that contributes to prevention, comprehensive provision and continuity of care, in the wider community of Piraeus.
