As an immigrant from Greece, arriving in America with little more than the belief that regardless of where he was from, with hard work, he could succeed in this new land, and he did just that.
After several years of working as a painter, in 1960, he decided to open his own painting company. With a strong work ethic, dedication, and determination, he made the Ploutis name into a reputable company in the industry. In 1972, he was awarded the contract for the United States Capital Rotunda painting in preparation for the 1976 bicentennial celebration.
Alex continued to work in Ploutis Contracting with his daughter Stella and her husband Gus Koukides. They worked with him right of out college until he retired in 2009. Stella and Gus continue to work off Alex's legacy.
