Its worldwide advocacy for project management is supported by globally-recognized standards and credentials, extensive research program, and professional development opportunities. Since its inception, PMI advocated on behalf of project professionals around the world. Project Management allows an individual to speak with one common language, no matter their industry, geography, or whether they manage projects, programs or portfolios. This common language steers organizations toward achieving repeatable, predictable results – critical when approx. $12 trillion is being invested in infrastructure and capital projects worldwide every year. PMI Colombo, Sri Lanka Chapter is the official representative Charter of the Project Management Institute in Sri Lanka, and primarily contributes to the sustainable development of Sri Lanka by introducing best practices, standards, and professional development to those professionals managing or administering Projects, programs or portfolios. We strive to develop and enhance the field of Project management within Sri Lanka and promote it as a key profession by increasing awareness on its importance for organizational success whether it be in the public or private sectors of our Country. PMI Colombo, Sri Lanka Chapter strongly believes, that by promoting the best practices among the professional community within Sri Lanka, Organizations could significantly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of projects undertaken by them. We also facilitate and encourage professionals to become certified as Project Management Professionals (PMP®).
