About Philippine Nurses Association of Oregon & Washington

The Philippines Nurses Association of America (PNAA) is a national association that was founded in 1979. Philippine Nurses Association of Oregon & Washington (PNAOW) is one of the 40 local chapters of PNAA. PNAOW officially joined the national association last March 2003. The organization was welcomed and acknowledged as the 30th chapter of the PNAA. MISSION STATEMENT The PNA-OR/WA is a non-profit association. PNA-OR/WA exists for the purpose of promoting fellowship and unity among Filipino nurses to improve the community health care environment and the advancement of the nursing profession. MEMBERSHIP Membership is divided into 2 categories: 1) Regular members who are Filipino RNs and hold a current RN license to practice and perform active duty in the state of Oregon and Washington. 2) Auxiliary members who are Filipino nurses (unlicensed), nursing students, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and others from various professional and ethnic backgrounds who show/demonstrate willingness in helping the professional association in moving forward. These regular and auxiliary members will work together in accomplishing and implementing the mission, goal, and objectives of the PNA-OR/WA. MISSION To unite Filipino RNs in Oregon and Southwest Washington. GOAL To uphold the image of Filipino RNs in Oregon and Southwest Washington. OBJECTIVES 1. Develop activities that will foster unity among members. 2. Collaborate with other agencies and associations in the advancement of the nursing practice through research, education, and maintaining the standards of the nursing profession. 3. Develop a collaborative effort with other agencies in formulating outreach programs such as immunization, blood pressure, and glucose monitoring in Oregon and Southwest Washington. 4. Develop an orientation packet for the new members. 5. Mentor Filipino nurses and nursing students in passing the State Board in Nursing and getting acclimated into the nursing practice in the United States.
