POCA stands for Professional Opportunity Connection for All, and was co-founded by Janet “Flaka” Martinez and Sandra Avalos, two immigrant Dallas organizers who met through the North Texas Dream Team in 2017. Officially registered as 501c3 in the fall of 2020 as a result of economic disruptions caused by COVID-19 in our immigrant communities and renewed political attacks on DACA, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
