Independent Consulting

Adriana has led several consulting, freelancing and independent projects on research policy, advocacy, training and resource development. This work is focused on empowering universities, non-profits and scientific societies invested in and working towards building the next generation STEM workforce through policy change across a number of industries within the science, technology and innovation ecosystem. Contributions Include - Performing research and landscape analysis to advance policy entrepreneurship to assist the federal government in fostering innovation and U.S. competitiveness; - Developing online platforms and tools to facilitate societal impacts of research; - Assisting with policy pitches on enhancing university research innovation and commercialization; - Designing science policy and advocacy training programs for STEM graduate students and postdocs; - Giving educational talks and workshops on policy and advocacy; - Reviewing and judging STEM fellowship proposals and symposia. Several efforts included trainees from California, including UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCLA, UCSD and Scripps Research Institute, and involved early career scientists in research advocacy with Congressional staff including Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) and House Science Committee.
