The Polymers and Composites Laboratory (Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Trento, Italy) has a 30+ year experience on the research about polymers and composite materials for industrial applications, with a focus on the processing technologies and the structure-property correlation.
The main research topics are:
• the processing and characterization of multiphase polymer systems (micro- and nanocomposites, blends);
• the development of ecocompatible and sustainable polymers (biodegradable, bioderived, recyclable);
• the production of functional polymer materials (electrically conductive, shape-memory, with thermal energy storage (TES) capability, piezoelectric, self-sensing and self-healing);
• the research of new materials for 3D printing (fused deposition modelling, FDM);
• the evaluation of the environmental impact of materials and processes through an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) approach.
