Polysilicon Technology Company (PTC) is the first high-purity solar grade Polysilicon manufacturer in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Alternative renewable energy sources have gained attention in the Middle East due to the pressing need for regional economies to look into a sustainable energy mix for future generations. Harnessing diversified sources of energy has become critical to the development of tomorrow’s economies. Saudi Arabia is taking a leading position in this endeavor with an ambitious goal of introducing 41GW of renewable energy electricity generation from solar into its total energy portfolio by 2032. To take full advantage of this emerging solar power market, PTC has set itself short and long-term goals. Towards achieving the short term goals, PTC has setup the first plant of its kind, with an initial annual production capacity of 3,350 metric tonnes of high-purity solar grade Polysilicon and plans to increase the annual production capacity to 12,000 metric tonnes by 2017. It is thereby becoming the first high purity solar grade Polysilicon manufacturer in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region upon which you can rely on as a consistent source of high-purity polycrystalline silicon. Forward in time, PTC plans to evolve downstream the value chain by setting up an ingot growing/wafer cutting facility to supplement its existing Polysilicon production, thereby becoming a single point of sourcing of raw materials for solar cell and panel manufacturers world-wide. In the long term, PTC is looking for strategic cooperation to provide an advantageous position in the Saudi Market to a Cell/Module manufacturer and/or IPP developer interested in a significant Saudi local content, by virtue of being a local Polysilicon and Wafer manufacturer.
