It was established in 1974 as the first department offering computing education in the territory, nurturing professional talents to support the society’s advancement. Today, COMP has gained international recognition in world-class research and high quality education. It is ranked 49th in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2016 – Computer Science & Information Systems and ranked 31st in Computer Science in the “2017 Best Global Universities Rankings” released by the U.S. News and World report.
