Pop49 inc was founded in January 2011 as a natural offshoot from the very successful display manufacturer Medalion Enterprises which was founded in 1989 in Johannesburg South Africa primarily as a springboard for new and innovative products and ideas.
As Medalion Enterprises grew its portfolio of custom products, a trend developed, these custom products had great appeal in the POP, Display, Racking and experiential marketing industries. A method to present the new products to the wider audience of Sign companies, Supermarket designers, Architects and Advertising firms was required and Pop49.com was developed. With competitively priced, industry specific products supplied in wholesale or smaller quantities to interested resellers around the world.
Pop49 gets its name from Point of Purchase (POP) and 49 is derived from the 49th parallel separating United States and Canada, because these are the two major markets which are served.
