Postdoc Brewing Company's mission is inspired by a love of great beer, scientific endeavor, and the pursuit of a liquid dream.
Formed in 2014, but with early planning extending back over 20 years, the Postdoc team offers the beers we all like to drink combined with seasonal offerings and experimental craft brews that are in harmony with nature’s many ingredients.
A Postdoc, or post-doctoral research, is what many do after getting their PhD. In our case, our co-founder and head brewer, Tom Schmidlin, dreamed of a different kind of Postdoc. After getting his Doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Washington, he and his team founded Postdoc Brewing Company. The dream became a reality.
We use a steam-fired 15 bbl brewhouse, with a current annual capacity of around 1250 barrels. Our location provides the space to grow to satisfy the continued demand for craft beers in the Pacific Northwest.
