Posthuma Groep is een familiebedrijf met activiteiten op het gebied van retail, bouwen, vastgoed en participatie. De Posthuma Groep is ontstaan uit een bouwbedrijf dat in 1972 is opgericht. In 1982 werd vervolgens de eerste bouwmarkt geopend in Scharnegoutum. Deze “Bouwmarkt 82″ is de voorloper van de huidige KARWEI te Sneek, waar tevens het hoofdkantoor is gevestigd.
Kernactiviteit is de retailtak met de directe en indirecte exploitatie van 19 KARWEI Bouwmarkten op franchisebasis. Tussen 1982 en heden is de Posthuma Groep gestaag en beheerst gegroeid. Eerst regionaal en inmiddels verspreid over heel Nederland. De Posthuma Groep kenmerkt zich door een platte en no nonsense organisatie.
De Groep heeft meer dan 500 werknemers in dienst en is een grote franchisenemer van Intergamma BV. Intergamma is de franchisegever voor de formules KARWEI en GAMMA en daarmee marktleider in doe-het-zelf land.
Tot de Groep behoort Bouwbedrijf D. Posthuma dat een ruime ervaring heeft op het gebied het gebied van woning- en utiliteitsbouw.
De Groep heeft een bescheiden vastgoed verhuur- en ontwikkeltak. Tot de participaties behoort een deelneming in Carrosseriebedrijf De Haan Hallum BV.
De managementstructuur van de onderneming is erop gericht om als zelfstandig familiebedrijf te blijven voortbestaan.
