POWER4trees is your online toolbox to save and preserve trees in Brussels Capital Region POWER4trees exists because since 2010, more than 64,000 tall trees were authorised to be felled through an urbanistic permit. By doing so, local and regional authorities, far from making the city more resilient to climate change, have contributed to more heat spots, more waterflood risks, more social risks, more health risks and less beauty in the city. POWER4trees defends urban trees because they are a visible symbol of all non-human life in the city with the full eco-systems that they host. POWER4trees advocates a paradigm shift: refusing to see trees as a mere ornament to the city and asserting their right to be treated from now on with the same care as any living beings.
