About Our Founder, Mr. Max Appel In 1984, Max and his wife Elaine wanted a cleaner that didn’t contain harsh chemicals, but couldn’t find one. They were concerned about the environmental impact of other cleaning products and believed that natural ingredients such as orange oil could be even more effective as the chemicals contained in traditional brands. Proving once again that necessity is the mother of invention, they tinkered around in their garage, concocting the formula for Orange Glo Wood Cleaner and Polish, a natural product based in orange oil that quickly became a favorite in households all over the world. Convinced that other families were hungry for natural cleaning products, Max developed Orange Glo Wood Cleaner and Polish, OxiClean, and now: Powerizer.
