The Port Phillip and Westernport CMA operated from 2002-2021 as the Catchment Management Authority for the Port Phillip and Western Port region.
On 1 January 2022, the PPWCMA integrated into Melbourne Water.
This means that the catchment and waterways management responsibilities across the Port Philip and Western Port region now come under single, integrated entity with a shared vision to improve and enhance our land, water and biodiversity.
The PPWCMA provided leadership to a range of stakeholder groups and worked to deliver integrated catchment management and sustainability for the region’s catchment assets by building cooperation, coordination and partnerships among these groups.
Stakeholders included government, businesses, agricultural industries, farmers, landholders, Landcare groups and networks, community organisations and individuals interested in improving the environment.
