Puerto Rico Agricultural Biotechnology Industry Association (PRABIA)

The Puerto Rico Agricultural Biotechnology Industry Association (PRABIA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1995. PRABIA members include AgReliant Genetics, BASF, Bayer Puerto Rico-Crop Science, Corteva Agriscience – Agriculture Division of DowDuPont, Illinois Crop Improvement Association, RiceTec and Syngenta. It is the Association’s objective to strengthen the agricultural biotechnology ecosystem on the island and around the world, in light of the challenges facing global food production. PRABIA understands the importance of environmental health, and its responsibility to encourage the economic development of Puerto Rico and its neighboring communities. PRABIA contributes to Puerto Rico’s economy by providing more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. The Association fosters education, supports academia and establishes programs aimed at the development of future scientists and agronomists. La Asociación de Biotecnología Agrícola, Puerto Rico Agricultural Biotechnology Industry Association, PRABIA, por sus siglas en inglés es una organización sin fines de lucro fundada en 1995. La Asociación está formada por las compañías AgReliant Genetics, BASF, Bayer Puerto Rico-Crop Science, Corteva Agriscience – Agriculture Division of DowDuPont, Illinois Crop Improvement Association, RiceTec y Syngenta. El objetivo de la Asociación es fortalecer el ecosistema de la biotecnología agrícola en la isla, a la luz de los retos que se están enfrentando en la producción de alimentos a nivel global; uniéndose en un esfuerzo común por velar y compartir las responsabilidades con el ambiente, el desarrollo económico de Puerto Rico y el de sus comunidades aledañas. La asociación genera alrededor de 5,000 empleos directos e indirectos, promueve la educación, respalda la academia y establece programas orientados al desarrollo de los futuros científicos y agrónomos.
