Welcome to the Global Working Group: Countering Dangerous Times. This initiative, born from the DANGEROUS TIMES book series, is a call to action uniting experts, academics, law enforcement officers, military and security professionals, and concerned global citizens. Together, we are tackling today’s most pressing threats: war, corruption, radicalization, transnational crime, human trafficking, terrorism, narco-terrorism, and money laundering—dangers that compromise national and international security. Led by Johan Obdola, an internationally recognized counter-narco-terrorism expert who arrived as a refugee in Canada from Venezuela in 1997 after battling drug cartels and systemic corruption, this group takes a proactive approach in the fight against these threats. Johan remains deeply engaged in efforts to counter terrorism, transnational crime, and the global narcotics trade. Our first milestone was the release of DANGEROUS TIMES: The Americas Under the Shadows of Terror. While the book's readership continues to grow, the insights are critical and timely, addressing the Americas' urgent security challenges. In the next phase, we aim to expand the DANGEROUS TIMES series worldwide, welcoming contributions from regional experts, who will serve as co-authors to document and analyze these issues with on-the-ground insight. This is an open invitation to those who wish to make a difference: become a co-author, contributor, or collaborator and join us in countering these dangerous times.
