Prakrith Arivagam is a non-profit children's library that aims to replicate the impressive library system I experienced during my 17 years in the US. Inspired by the impact of libraries on my own children's reading habits, I want to create a similar system in India. Prakrith Arivagam is a small step towards that goal, currently charging a nominal monthly fee of Rs. 200 while allowing members to read unlimited books. However, my vision is to provide free access to all books. Currently, I have around 2000 books on display, with another 2000 stored in boxes due to limited space. All the books in my library are in English as they were acquired from the USA. To expand, I aspire to secure sufficient funding and members, enabling me to showcase the remaining books and introduce Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and other local language books. Ultimately, the library's main objective is to help children cultivate and maintain a reading habit while minimizing screen time.
