Prastara

Prastara is a Chennai based charitable trust created with an initiative to identify, document, preserve and share the sources of cultural information with special regard to the History and Heritage.we have been identifying, documenting, preserving, and sharing the sources of cultural information to different sections of the public; hoping to inspire in people a sense of ownership to various representations of heritage and history around them. Over the years one of our major activities has been to conduct outreach programmes for school and college students in South India, through regular field trips and lecture series. We have also been supporting educational institutions to start heritage and history clubs and initiating activities such as cleaning of historical monuments, quizzing programmes, painting competitions, etc. Our other vertical includes documentation and archival of the tangible and intangible heritage of India. We use the mediums of photography and/or videography to study and document. We have been fortunate to have worked on a wide range of projects in ten years. In order to create a network of knowledge sharing amongst the general public, we have been conducting events that address or revolve around a specific theme. These include talks, lectures by eminent personalities, concerts, and even marathons. To reach out to a more varied and diverse set of people, we have also partnered and collaborated with various cultural and arts organisations in South India
