Prathertown Community Development Corporation

Within the historic district of Prathertown, Maryland that was founded in 1883 by freed slaves, a cultural center is being constructed. The establishment of this cultural center will offer the public an opportunity to view historic artifacts that helped shape this community. In addition to promoting historic preservation, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is offering educational and entrepreneurship programming. Jobs will be created and inter-generational activities offered in a community that is isolated and under served . In addition, community service/volunteer opportunities are available to help foster family unification and health and wellness…the very constructs by which Prathertown was founded.
