Pro Bono Uganda

Pro Bono is a youth-led non-profit organisation aimed at impacting society positively by establishing outreach programs aimed at various sections of society and integrating the communities to meet the needs unique to them. As the name suggests, we set up this organisation, Pro Bono, to create the positive change we envision in the society because we believe it starts with us. We recognise that society grapples with several problems including widespread poverty, unemployment, gender imbalance, famine among others. Initially, we hope to start by tackling the problems of widespread poverty, unemployment, and gender imbalance. To achieve this, we are aiming to integrate ourselves into the communities that we will be reaching out to come up with solutions that are unique to each of the problems faced in the communities. Some of the solutions that we’ve managed to come up with for the various problems include the following: For poverty and unemployment, we hope to partner with vocational schools and other institutions of learning to impart skills such as carpentry, tailoring within a short time so that people can set up enterprises that earn them income and create employment opportunities. For gender imbalance, we want to start with schools so that we can bridge the gap in the sex education given and make the students familiar with what’s happening with their bodies for example by coming up with games, brochures with interactive information so that the students can pick interest and pass the information on to the next person so as to get rid of the stereotypes and misconceptions created by what they hear from the people around them ,who are most times uninformed or are inadequately informed.
