About Santalum Album Absolute

"The sandalwood tree which, when felled, perfumes the axe that strikes it.” In India, Sandalwood is a sacred tree, a gift of the gods offering a warm, woody fragrance. Sandalwood is guarded by serpents because the antidote to their deadly venom is the fragrance of the tree. We are a family owned and operated entity. We are into the craft of making Sandalwood Oil in Small Batch and undertake contracts with limited clientele of Perfume Houses. We enter the market seasonally and prefer to be a tiny player in the field with a very distinct Product DNA. Our Oil provides a unique Sensory experience which is an outcome of our sourcing and unique crafting effort. We restrict our sourcing to Jaipokal grade 10 from the Marayoor forest through auction and in a way it limits volumes to suit our Craft Scale. Our Separation Process is deliberately configured towards lower yield. We leave behind quite a bit during distillation. The distillate captures nothing beyond the Olfactory Notes characteristic of warm mature Sandalwood. Additional Solvent extraction step with doctored dielectric constant weeds out random notes leaving behind a sweet woody absolute. The Woody Note of Sandalwood has captured the imagination of Perfume Artists from far and wide for a long time. A tribute to the brands that have been inspired by the gift of God .. Lanvin’s ARPÈGE (1927), Hermès’ CALÈCHE (1961), Jean Patou’s 1000 (1972), LACOSTE ORIGINAL (1984), JOOP! Femme (1987), YSL’s JAZZ (1988), Guerlain’s SAMSARA (1989), Chanel’s EGOÏSTE (1990), SUBLIME (1992), Lorenzo Villoresi’s SANDALO (1995), Davidoff’s COOL WATER (1997), Boucheron’s JAÏPUR Homme (1997), Olivier Creed’s ORIGINAL SANTAL (2005), Hermès’ SANTAL MASSOÏA (2011), Exotic Island Perfumer’s SANTAL EXOTIC ( 2013), Guerlain’s SANTAL ROYAL (2015). A few Niche Perfumes SANTAL de MYSORE (1991), SANTAL BLANC (2001), SACREBLEU INTENSE (2008), SANTAL MAJUSCULE (2012).
