About Research Group Participatory Processes in Public Management

The research group is dedicated to studying different processes of democratization in society, with special interest in the experiences in which citizens have expanded their power of deliberation in public management. It mainly brings together researchers, teachers, doctoral students, masters, undergraduates and social activists interested in these topics. Although based on the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, it has members in several Brazilian universities, as well as collaborators abroad. The main activity of the research group is precisely the investigation of the various ways of strengthening social democratization. Analyzing the problem of strengthening social democratization from different angles, our research activities encompass theoretical and empirical questions on different subjects such as citizenship, participatory democracy, quality of democracy, development councils, human rights, gender, media, participatory budgets, social movements, among others. Since its founding in 1998, the group has cultivated a multidisciplinary profile, being permanently open to all people interested in deepening knowledge and developing research within contemporary societies.
