Worker burnout is attributed to 15-20% of the $322 billion in turnover costs globally. Our research, conducted with 8,484 workers across 81 countries & six continents, introduces the Progressive Work Model (PWM)—a forward-thinking framework used to organize work activities and processes within an organization that meets the work-life balance needs of the modern workforce. The four empirical components - choice-facilitated autonomy, flexible work practices, psychological safety climate, & work-life programs - mitigate burnout across diverse cultural contexts. As workforce demands evolve, the PWM offers organizations an evidence-based framework to be part of the solution to create healthier workplaces.
