About Project CLEANSHIP
Welcome aboard the official LinkedIn page for the CLEANSHIP project! Funded by the Danish MUDP program, CLEANSHIP is a Danish research and demonstration initiative that brings together leading maritime players to chart a greener course for the shipping industry. By establishing a robust data foundation on emissions under real sailing conditions, the project delivers actionable insights into energy-saving devices, biofuels, and operational strategies. These insights empower the maritime industry with data-driven best practices to support future emission reductions. Led by the Danish Technological Institute, Cleanship collaborates with Uni-Tankers, Green Instruments A/S, the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, Danish Maritime, and Danish Shipping. Over the next two years, the project will test and demonstrate innovative solutions, equipping the industry with tools and knowledge to meet international climate goals, including the IMO’s ambition to halve emissions by 2050. Why Cleanship? Shipping is responsible for 3% of global CO2 emissions, a number that could rise to 10% by 2050 without urgent action. Cleanship tackles this challenge head-on by testing and validating solutions to reduce emissions, including: - Biofuels - Energy-Saving Devices - Operational Optimizations Through real-world testing and advanced monitoring technologies, Cleanship delivers evidence-based insights to accelerate the green transition in shipping. What’s Next? Over the next two years, Cleanship will embark on full-scale demonstrations aboard Uni-Tankers vessels, collecting baseline emissions data and evaluating the impact of innovative technologies. These findings will form the basis for: - Best practices to reduce emissions. - Policy recommendations to guide sustainable shipping. - Technical guidelines for shipowners, operators, and regulators. Follow the Cleanship LinkedIn page to stay updated on the project’s progress, gain insights from ongoing learnings
