Project DIWA responds to important question, "who care for the women defending us?" We are on a mission to build inclusive and resilient culture within grassroots movements that sustain women activists and social justice defenders. We use feminist action research, arts-based and participatory techniques to gain insights into the experiences of women activists and bridge connections between movement leaders and mental health professionals to provide crucial wellbeing support for these women.
This project was founded as part of the Mindanao Young Leaders Programme (MinYLP). MinYLP is managed and run by UnionAID in partnership with Victoria University of Wellington and Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS)(an environmental advocacy non-government organisation based in Mindanao), and supported by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade as part of its Aotearoa New Zealand’s International Development Cooperation programme| Nga Hoe Tuputupu-mai-Tawhiti.
