During the lockdown, there has been a shocking 30% increase in domestic violence reports worldwide. This startling figure had given birth to Project Raahat.
Our goals emphasize our commitment to the core principles of safety, social responsibility, open communication, growth and change.
1. Financial Independence & Career counseling
Reducing homelessness and increasing the long-term economic stability for survivors of domestic violence so that they can sustain their independence from abuse, remain safe, and thrive.
2. Legal Reliefs
Legal advocacy and representation for survivors of all gender identities dealing with relationship violence are foremost. We aim to provide survivors with the means and the ways to seek judicial help, primarily to ensure their safety and help them understand their rights.
3. Understanding Psychology
We believe that the first step toward ending domestic violence is understanding what it is. We hope to conduct a detailed analysis of the psyche of abusers, victims, and bystanders and educate ourselves/ others to lessen these heinous acts.
4. Personality Development
To provide leadership for the community with wide participation and to empower survivors to serve as mentors and advocates. These sessions will include imparting knowledge on public speaking, leadership skills, language proficiency and decision making. These could be monumental in ensuring the survivors find their voices and stand up for themselves.
5. Self Defense Sessions
As a team, we realize that Domestic Violence is not just a gender issue but a public health concern. We envision a future in which our society has a coordinated and informed approach to domestic violence.
As our founder, Suhana Nanda said, “Everyone (and not just the victims) must be educated in the fields of financial independence, legal reliefs, self defense, personality development because anyone can turn into a potential victim, abuser or bystander.“
