BRIDGING THE SKILLS GAP Project SkillStrong is dedicated to addressing the critical skills shortage in the manufacturing and construction industries. We assist high school students, graduates, and career changers in: + Identifying in-demand jobs + Navigating the vast array of local and national training programs to efficiently acquire the necessary skills. WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT Recent legislation, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and CHIPS and Science Act, is driving significant investment in America's infrastructure. This surge in investment is creating millions of well-paying manufacturing and construction jobs that don't require a college degree. However, the industry is facing challenges in filling these jobs - because of a substantial talent and skills deficit - hindering its ability to fully capitalize on these opportunities. To illustrate the scale of this problem - McKinsey & Co estimates that 87% of manufacturing companies are grappling with a skills gap. Additionally, the Manufacturing Institute predicts a shortage of 2.1 million workers in these sectors by 2030. Compounding this issue is the aging workforce, with a quarter of employees being 55 or older and half being 45 or older. CATALYST FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC GROWTH Project SkillStrong envisions itself as a kay contributor to bridging the skills gap. By addressing this challenge, we aim to unlock the immense potential for economic and social impact.
