The STAR project (Support Training Activities on the data protection Reform) is a two-year project that aims at providing support to the training activities of EU Data Protection Authorities (DPAs) and Data Protection Officers (DPOs) on the EU data protection reform, especially the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The GDPR requires DPAs and DPOs to undertake training activities. Developing such materials in isolation increases the overall cost and risks undermining the harmonising effect of the GDPR. STAR will provide DPAs and DPOs with ready-made, easy-to-customise, and easy-to-run training materials. In particular, the STAR research group will: - identify the training topics in cooperation with stakeholders; - develop the training materials; - validate and test them in pilot trainings. While the exact format of the training materials will be refined with the stakeholders, the following will at least be included: - training scenarios; - a Seminars’ Topics List; - seminar materials for each one of the seminars; - webinars; - a training Handbook; - a takeaway reference GDPR checklist; - a ten-point GDPR introductory list; All project outputs will be freely and publicly available in a digital form. While STAR is directly addressed to EU DPAs and DPOs, it also offers a benefit to other privacy professionals in the EU and beyond.
