Project Tangaroa

Project TANGAROA has been initiated by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, The Ocean Foundation and Waves Group, and aims to raise awareness and catalyse pro-active action to reduce the risk of serious marine pollution from the many Potentially Polluting Wrecks (PPWs) lying on the ocean floors worldwide, primarily from World War I and II. Our mission is to develop a global framework for the near and long-term assessment, intervention, and data sharing of these wrecks. By assessing and mitigating the pollution risks they pose, we will help to protect our marine environments and preserve important cultural heritage.
