Project ATLAS represents Loughborough University in the IMechE Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) 2017 challenge held in Snowdonia Aerospace Centre, Llanbedr.
The team, consisting of 9 MEng (Hons) undergraduates has been tasked with creating a fully autonomous aerial system to complete a disaster relief mission in competition with other university teams. For the 2017 challenge there are three distinct missions:
- Payload Delivery
- Reconnaissance
- Endurance
The competition bridges the gap between academia and industry in developing applied UAS-related activities, giving students the perfect opportunity to strengthen links with industry and enhance employment opportunities.
