About Project EATS
Project EATS is a New York State non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to community-based enterprise, food access & wellness via a network of small-plot, high-yield urban farms as well as health and workforce development programs. The organization creates and operates farms that organically grow food in low wealth neighborhoods and institutional communities. Joining with residents and partnering with community-based organizations, Project EATS has created 17 ground-level soil farms and programs in all of New York City’s boroughs. PE farms range in size from 2,500 square feet to 2 acres, and currently occupy a total of 5 acres citywide. PE farms are built on vacant/unused spaces, on the rooftops of public and subsidized housing communities, in NYC Parks Department lots and at community medical centers.
