ProjectHEAL Inc. is a Non Profit Organization founded in Chicago, Illinois with a Theory of Change centered upon the following: If more teachers and students learn about how trauma affects a student’s ability to learn, while students practice expressive writing as a healthy coping mechanism, then teachers and students—nationwide—will cultivate trauma-informed mindsets that will ultimately increase the depth of teacher-student relationships, enrich classroom cultures and improve student educational outcomes. The Ultimate Goal: Prepare more of today's high school students to become the adults of tomorrow who practice healthy coping habits--i.e expressive writing, authorship and entrepreneurship--instead of destructive coping habits that historically lead families and generations towards a perpetual cycle generational trauma, poverty and mass incarceration.
